Welcome to Creative, the worldwide leader in digital entertainment and famous for its Sound Blaster sound cards, ZEN MP3 players, Speakers and more.

The Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Audio Card SB0770 is a customised OEM version of the Creative X-Fi Extreme Gamer card. It is a PCI card with Digital Optical Input and Output, and has a special ASIO chip (CA02) on it to allow it to conform to Microsoft's Uni'versal Audio Architecture (UAA) for Vista Logo certification.

Many people have said that they can't find any info at all and mistakenly identify this as an X-Fi Extreme Audio card. This is not helped by Creative not listing this card on their part numbers list! Info on the card can be found on the Creative website at the following URL: You can also get a data sheet for it on that page. ----------------------------------------------------- This card has been supplied to many system builders. (Including Dell and HP) The builder is supposed to pass on the OEM drivers CD, or at least integrate the drivers into their restore disks. It is awkward to move the card from one of these systems and install it in another motherboard, as it might not be easy to get the drivers from a compacted restore disk.

The Device Details shown under 'Unknown device' in the Device Manager in XP are: HDAUDIO FUNC_0&VEN_02&DEV_000C&SUBSYS_026007&REV_0 00 5&3F9558&&00 The board has 'SB0770' printed on it. Searching for SB0770 on the main Creative websites will not get you anywhere as the OEM section is outwith their search engine's scope! I also found that I could not register my card using the correct serial number as it was 'Invalid' I found that if I put in '58' INSTEAD of 'SB' in the serial number, it was valid and I could register it!!! When the card is found by Creative software it is identified by the code 'SB X-Fi Audio [DC00]' The CD that came with my card has 'SB X-Fi, Driver version 2.3.2' on it. The Auto Update program shows that the following updates are available: Creative Console Launcher 2.60.29 Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Driver 2.8.0004 Creative MediaSource 5 Player/Organiser 5.20.23 I take it this implies that these particular versions of these programs will (probably) work OK with this card. The 'Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Driver 2.8.0004' can be found on a link in the page at: ubCatID=208&subCatName=X-Fi&prodID=5853&prodName=X-Fi+XtremeGamer (The above URL will probably be spread over several lines, so you need to select and copy it ALL and paste it in your browser!) If you install this driver, then it should be possible to at least get your system to recognise your card!

You will still need to set up the card using the two control panels: 'Audio Console' and 'Sounds and Audio Devices' This will get you a useable sound system with basic volume control and a bit more! I have tried Uninstalling (Not as easy as you would think!) and following the steps above & all works OK so far. You can try downloading other applications found on the Creative website, but remember that some may not work on this card. If you use Internet Explorer then you can now use the Web based Auto-Updater, which requires you to allow an Acti'veX control to be downloaded and run.

This allows Download and Installation of the above mentioned files. (Netscape/Firefox etc will not work for this! (I will try these and others and report back when I have the time!) Having installed Mediasource 5 player 5.020.23, I tried the AutoUpdater for it and it came up with a 'Critical Update' - 'Creative CD Burner Plugin 5.0.44 for Creative MediaSource 5 Player_Organizer' It would NOT install as it couldn't find 'a supported product'! - I don't know why the updater says it is available, especially as it is specified as 'Critical'!! It looks like there are still going to be big problems with trying to get updates for this card.
